Every journey begins with a single step. Ours began in 2022 when we walked through the gates of St. Mark’s College Namagoma (SMACON) as young, hopeful Senior One students. We carried dreams, excitement, and a little uncertainty about what the future would bring. Four years later, as Senior Five students, we look back with deep gratitude at a journey filled with growth, discovery, challenges, friendships, achievements, and unforgettable memories.

As twins, people often assume that our lives are identical that we think the same, act the same, and share everything in common. However, our experience at SMACON has taught us something different: while we share a special bond as sisters, we are also individuals with unique personalities, interests, talents, and ambitions.

One of the most important lessons we have learned is the value of individuality. During our O-Level years, we studied in different streams, which gave each of us the chance to grow independently. Being in separate classes exposed us to different classmates, different learning environments, and different opportunities to discover who we truly are.

This experience helped us build different friendships and develop our own identities. Although we are twins, we do not share the same circle of friends. Instead, each of us has formed meaningful relationships that have shaped our lives in unique ways. Through these friendships, we have learned the importance of trust, loyalty, understanding, and support.

Our journey of discovery continued into Advanced Level. Today, Babirye is pursuing BCM/ICT, while Nakato is pursuing HED/ICT. These combinations reflect our different academic interests and future aspirations. Although our subjects differ, our shared determination to succeed and make our families and school proud remains strong.

Being fraternal twins has also created many memorable and humorous moments. Throughout our time at SMACON, many students have been surprised to learn that we are twins. At times, people expect one of us to be physically larger or more different in appearance, only to discover otherwise. These light-hearted moments have become part of our story and remind us that first impressions are not always accurate.

Beyond academics and friendships, SMACON has played a major role in shaping our character. The school has helped us grow in confidence, responsibility, and resilience. We have learned not only from textbooks but also from everyday experiences how to overcome challenges, adapt to change, work with others, and believe in ourselves.

Looking back, we cherish countless memories: our first days in Senior One, the excitement of new friendships, classroom discussions, school events, examinations, moments of laughter, and experiences that have shaped our secondary school journey. These memories remind us that school is not only about academic success but also about personal growth and meaningful relationships.

As we continue our journey at SMACON, we remain deeply grateful to our parents for their sacrifices, our teachers for their guidance, and our fellow students for the friendships and experiences we have shared. Each has played a vital role in making our school life meaningful and memorable.

Ultimately, our story is one of growth and discovery a story of two sisters who began the same journey but gradually found their own unique paths. It is a reminder that individuality is not something to hide, but something to embrace and celebrate.

As we look to the future, we carry with us the lessons, values, friendships, and memories SMACON has given us. No matter where life leads, St. Mark’s College Namagoma will always remain a defining chapter in our lives a place where we grew, discovered ourselves, and prepared for the future.
