St Mark’s hosts Jane Goodall
It was a highly anticipated day at St Mark’s college Namagoma when the wildlife club hosted Jane Goodall the founder of the Ngamba Island sanctuary. She was given a hero’s reception; she was received with a traditional kiganda dance led by one Nantongo Brenda a student of senior five arts.
The guest met with Miss Ngamba Kikobye Sharon form 6 Arts, and then a lane was made where she proceeded to the main hall where she was greeted with cheers in form of gorilla sounds these probably were the wild life anthem.
She was entertained by representatives from the schools that had attended When she stood up to speak, she talked about herself and revealed that at one point she collaborated with Nelson Mandela but her concern was not politics her desire was chimps.
She urged the students to be enthusiastic about life she said that she had a dream of setting up sanctuaries of lions and elephants.
The students were very excited about her they expected to see some body beyond ordinary but they were astounded to see a very calm and down to earth person.
Students were challenged to follow their dreams because not all of them were called to be doctors or teachers, but they had to be creative.
This is a memory that will sprawl in the minds of St Marks students for a very long time.
